ISLAMIC, Ottoman Empire. Murad III, AH 982-1003 / AD 1574-1595. Dinar (Electrum, 32 mm, 3.80 g, 12 h), [Tilimsan], AH 995 = 1586/7. Within a square, ‘ṣāḥib / al-ʿadl al-muqīm / al-sulṭān / Murād ibn / al-sulṭān Salīm’ (‘The possessor of permanent justice, Sultan Murad son of Sultan Salim’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘ʿām ˗ khams ˗ wa tisʿīn ˗ wa tisʿa miʾa’ (‘Year 995’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a square, ‘mālik al-barrayn / al-baḥrayn al-Shām / al-ʿIrāqayn khallada / Allāh mulkahū’ (‘The owner of the two lands, the two seas, the Levant, [and] the two Iraqs. May Allah perpetuate his kingdom’ in Arabic); repetition of date in the margin. Album 1331. Rare. Areas of weakness and with some doubling, otherwise, good very fine.
